Shri Jagannath Temple
This religious complex on Puri beach has lofty spire, shimmering with the fixed flag which can be witnessed as far as 7 kms away. Dedicated to Lord Jagannath, the temple culture indicates its strong Hindu religious faith. Its main gate of the temple follows the 35-foot high pillar- the Arunastambh, while its fine architecture depicts the power of its builder-Yayati Keshari, who set up the temple sometime in 10th century CE. Unlike the peak visiting season, the temple calls for closest attention during the Rath Festival, held every year in the month of July.
